Our goal is to be the leader in the discovery and development
of aptamer therapeutics for the prevention and treatment of human
disease.
We intend to achieve this goal by leveraging our proprietary
SELEX technology and our expertise with aptamers to develop a
diverse portfolio of proprietary and partnered therapeutic aptamers.
Our intellectual property position and know-how related to the
discovery, development and commercialization of aptamers is a
key driver in our ability to form significant and strategic relationships
with corporate collaborators.
- Focus for internal pipeline
Develop our proprietary product pipeline in core therapeutic
areas. Our core focus and competence is in the development of
aptamer therapeutics for rare hematological
diseases. We are developing an internal, proprietary pipeline
of product candidates by assuming an active
role in the discovery and development of aptamers for these
disease areas. In this space, ARC1779
is our lead internal candidate, and NU172,
REG1 and AS1411
are our most advanced external assets.
- Strategic alliances to build expertise
Enter alliances to build capabilities in therapeutic areas of
strategic interest. Oncology, with its high unmet needs, subchronic
treatment paradigms, amenability to targeted therapeutics, and
significant market potential, is an area of key strategic interest
to Archemix. Recognizing the unique biological and clinical
considerations in oncology drug development, we intend to build
strategic alliances with companies that have in-depth expertise
in this therapeutic area so that we can build our capabilities
to develop aptamers for cancer indications.
- Opportunities for out-licensing
Out-license product candidates outside of our core focus areas.
We intend to participate in chronic therapeutic categories,
such as autoimmune and inflammatory conditions and ophthalmology
diseases, through business collaborations and license agreements
with corporate partners. In addition, we intend to out-license
selected aptamer products for non-therapeutic, non-diagnostic
applications.
